Hey guys! Today I’ll be summarizing and reviewing the 20th episode of the Pokemon Black and White series. This episode starts out with some intense battling music, but it loses some of its flare when the two battlers turn out to be Axew and Scraggy. They have battled against each other in the past, and today’s match is nothing new. The two exchange Scratches and Head-butts. Iris commands Axew to use Dragon Rage, and everyone else gets nervous, especially Cilan who covers the food.
After the dust clears, everyone calms down and relaxes. Oshawott spontaneously jumps out of his Pokeball, and Ash begins to think that it is a good idea for all of his Pokemon to come and enjoy the nice weather. He is about to release the rest of his companions, when the ground underneath him disappears and he falls into a tunnel. Ash and Pikachu emerge from the end of the tunnel, which we found out to be built by the same Sandile with sunglasses from the resort in a previous episode (which I highly recommend). Sandile went through all that just to challenge Pikachu to a match. Back at the camp, Iris and Cilan are getting ready to go out and find Ash. Cilan sends out Pansage to start digging, and Iris is determined to help by sending out her Excadrill. To her dismay, it is curled up and refuses to budge. She recalls it, when a Ducklett appears and steals Cilan’s silver platter. It uses Scald on Oshawott and Iris and then flies away. Iris, Scraggy, Axew, and Oshawott follow in pursuit. Cilan decides to go down the tunnel.
Back to the match, Pikachu uses a Thundershock, but it doesn’t affect Sandile, a ground-type Pokemon. The two are battling, when all of a sudden, a different Ducklett steps right in between them. It seems friendly at first, but it starts teasing Sandile, and steals his sunglasses then flies away. The three go after it into the forest. We are treated to a group of Woobat, right before another Ducklett swoops down and snatches Ash’s trademark cap. The three are even more determined to get their cap and sunglasses back. Just when he’s about to seize the thief, another one pops out and attacks Ash. In front of him are three Ducklett, one wearing his cap, one wearing the sunglasses, and one wearing the platter.
Ash, Pikachu, and Sandile team up and try their best to retrieve the items from the Ducklett trio. Again, they beat our heroes up and fly away. Meanwhile, the others find the place where Pikachu battled Sandile. They figure that they aren’t far away and continue the search. Ash and the two Pokemon track down the trio of thieves and confront them. Pikachu is unable to use his electric attacks, so Sandile steps up and decides to take on all three of them at once. He fights valiantly, but they are too much. Pikachu gets angry and unleashes a new move—Electro ball. It is at this moment that the others rendezvous with Ash. However, the Ducklett Trio are not finished and they return for another confrontation. With his friends and a newly energized Pikachu, Ash and Sandile are able to finally defeat them.
Everyone is happy to get his belonging back, and they all go to the nearest Pokemon Center. After everyone is healed, the battle resumes. They go back and forth exchanging blows. Just when Pikachu looks like he’s finished, Sandile evolves into Krokorok. However, Pikachu uses Electro Ball to deflect Krokorok’s Stone Edge and he goes blasting off into the sky. The episode comes to a close as our heroes walk off into the sunset.
First and foremost, this episode doesn’t seem critical to the main storyline, but it is very important for those who have been following the sunglass-wearing crocodile side-story. It was a nice surprise to see him again, and from the very beginning you’ll feel like Ash is going to catch him. I did not expect to see him because of the title of the episode. My first impression of Ducklett was that he was cute, playful, and had an interesting voice-actor, but I quickly rooted against him, especially after the trio’s bully tactics. The morals of this episode include that stealing is wrong, bullying is wrong, and that even cool dudes like Sandile can show fear sometimes as long as you stand up for yourself and others.
Cilan and Iris call the match a tie, but how can that be when Krokorok was blasted off into the sky? Anyways, I was slightly disappointed to see him go, but I’m looking forward to his reappearance. Anyone else think that he sounds like a rock guitarist? The bottom line is that this is one episode you won’t regret watching.
