Pokemon Normal Type Move Summaries Part 5

By Matt

I will be discussing Normal-type Pokemon moves. The entire list can be found at http://www.serebii.net/attackdex-bw/normal.shtml. This provides a complete list with PP, Base Power, Accuracy, and a complete description. When you click on the move, you can see more details, like which Pokemon can learn it.

Let’s move on to L and M moves.

Last Resort suggests exactly what its name is: a last resort. You can only use this after you’ve used all your other 3 moves, so make sure they’re useful. And, after you use Last Resort, you have to use all 3 moves again, so proceed with caution.

Leer, a very basic move, lowers the target’s Defense by one level. This is good early on in the game, then when you fight higher leveled Pokémon, it becomes sort of obsolete, if you know what I mean.

Lock-On will make all future attacks hit the target, much like Odor Sleuth. Then, if you have an OHKO move, use it! There’s a sure chance you can land that move.

Lovely Kiss is risky to use, but well worth the trouble. There’s only a ¾ chance you can make your target fall asleep, but then you can unleash a barrage of attacks if this move is successful.

Lucky Chant prevents against critical hits for a few turns, so worrying about critical hits will be a thing of the past until it wears out.

Me First is one very unique move. If your Pokémon is fast enough, they can use the move the target was going to use. If it’s something like a Ghost- or Dragon-type move, then you can deal double damage. (The target will still use that move after your Pokemon does.)

Mean Look can definitely help in capturing hard-to-find wild Pokémon. It prevents the target from escaping. The ability Run Away will not work (for the target) after you use this.

Mega Kick packs a huge punch (I mean kick), because its base power is 120. You only can use this 5 times, and there’s only a ¾ chance it will hit. Don’t lose hope, though, this is a real powerful move, and the odds of missing it all 5 times are 1 in 1,024.

Mega Punch is not as powerful as Mega Kick, but it can be used 20 times. Its base power is 80, and its accuracy is 85.

Metronome is where the user uses a completely random move. This isn’t like Assist, where only a move one of your Pokemon knows can be used, it can be any move ever made. So if you manage to get an OHKO move (and it hits), pay your respects to this move.

Milk Drink is a recovery move; the max HP recovered being half the user’s max HP. If the user has more than half HP, its entire HP will be recovered.

Mimic is where the user copies the target’s last move that was used. This can be used as long as the target is on the field, then it will turn back into Mimic.

Mind Reader is a Lock On/Odor Sleuth kind of move. It makes the next move you will use hit.

Minimize is like Double Team: It increases evasiveness so even 100% moves might miss.

Moonlight is a recovery move. I believe when it is raining, it will recover more HP, and when it is sunny, it w ill recover less.

Morning Sun is another recovery move whose effect is opposite to Moonlight.
